papers/lighter/text

crumbled and rolled

Moments you’d bookmarked

Like tabs left open in life’s browser

somehow reopened after you’d accidentally clicked out,

Dull, hilarious text, mostly mundane, like,

“Welcome to the jungle, we’ve got trees and rain,”

that was your people’s constant refrain,

“Mostly trees and rain.”

If emptiness is a vessel to be filled

with wisdom reciprocated by joy,

and age inevitably made hollow,

habitable memories thus possible,

fragments of old text you wrote

years ago on a blog preserved online

What more fascinating thing could you find

Than an insight into your younger mind?
